UTI Watch Paris – Autokeir - Traveling Clock – Silver .925 - Vintage
Autokeir watches primarily featured "slide" or mystery dial designs. They are noted for a distinct case design that opens not by pulling the case apart (like the popular Movado slide-watches), but by using a thumb piece set onto a middle bar on the front of the case. Very rare and hunted by vintage collectors.
Very cool UTI Watch Paris travel clock with cream and gold Arabic numerals. At 12 o’clock is engraved Autokeir. It is a silver case .925 with engraved on the side “UTI Watch Paris – Sterling Silver .925 – Made in France – Brevet – Brevete SGOG USA AP FOR”. On the top is engraved SDB. It is a manual winding movement. The clock slides in a black metal case. Rare and collectible.
History
The UTI brand was established in 1906 by French horologist Georges Meyer. Originally named Fabrique Utinam in Besançon—derived from the Latin motto "Utinam" (meaning "as God wills")—the company quickly grew and opened a prominent Parisian headquarters on Boulevard de Sébastopol. In 1940, the company was renamed Etablissements UTI SA. 1950s–1970s: UTI cements its reputation for high-end, avant-garde jewelry watches. The company collaborates with prestigious jewelers like Van Cleef & Arpels and retailers such as Bulgari.
