Original Tiffany Agassiz vintage watch – 18K YG – 1920’s

Rare and beautiful Tiffany watch with yellowish patina dial and black roman numerals for hours. At 6 o’clock is engraved “Switzerland”. The watch comes with black cathedral hands. The crown has the onion shape. It is a 18K yellow gold Agassiz W signed case inside the back case as well as “Swiss” 18K – 209907. The watch comes with an Agassiz manual winding movement with 18 jewels also signed Agassiz W. Co – Swiss. The number on the case match the number of the movement. The watch comes on a brown vintage Patek Philippe strap and original 18K yellow gold Tiffany buckle. This is an unique timepiece highly collectible.

History

Georges Agassiz, son of Louis Agassiz, started the watchmaking business as Agassiz fils in 1876. He sold high-value, finished watches, often co-branded with Longines (where his father had worked) and Tiffany & Co. The company was later merged into Wittnauer, and Longines acquired the Agassiz trademarks in the 1980s. The most famous Agassiz movement is the Cal 9 ½ movement for the World Time.

Agassiz manual winding movement with 18 jewels and 6 position adjustments (Chronometer grade). The movement is numbered 209907. I believe this movement was also used for pocket watches.
