History
Louvic was an American watch company based in New York City (operating out of addresses like West 42nd Street and 46th Street) that heavily marketed mid-century wristwatches in the 1950s through the 1970. Louvic did not manufacture its own raw movements or components. Instead, they operated as an assembler/importer brand, sourcing Swiss-made mechanical and automatic movements—such as Unitas, ETA, A. Schild (e.g., the A. Schild 1361N), and Peseux—and housing them in custom or styled cases. Louvic is best remembered today for its Mystery Dial watches produced in the 1950s and 1960s. These designs—which visually echoed higher-end pieces like the Jaeger-LeCoultre mystery dials—used floating gems, indexes, or transparent rotating discs to show the time.
