History
Eberhard was established in 1887 by Georges-Emile Eberhard in La Chaux de Fonds. From the beginning, he was very successful. In early 20 century, he concentrated on precision timekeepers including a pocket chronograph. In 1919, his two sons Georges and Maurice took over the business. In 1930, the company launches its first watch with automatic winding. In 1935, came the first two-button chronograph that enabled repeated stops and starts. The split-second version came in 1939. In the 1940’s, Eberhard developed the 1600 movement based on a Valjoux caliber. In 1942, Maurice took over as sole owner and then retired in 1962.
