Rolex Oyster Perpetual 1675 GMT Master with brown Tiffany dial in 18K yellow gold from 1971
Rolex GMT Master Perpetual with reference 1675 with serial number 2,869… dating the watch to 1971. The watch has a round brown Tiffany Co. dial with nipple gold dots for hours, batons for 6 and 9 o’clock and triangle for 12 o’clock. At 3 o’clock comes the date with cyclops. The hands have the Mercedes shape. The GMT hand is in gold. At 12 o’clock comes “Rolex Oyster Perpetual” and 6 o’clock Tiffany Co. - GMT Master - Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified. It is a “T Swiss T” model. On the outer of the dial comes a brown bezel graduated with even numbers up to 24. The crown is original with the Rolex logo. The watch has a screw back case. It is a 18K yellow gold case back with engraved inside “Montres Rolex SA – Geneva Switzerland Patented – 18K - .750 – 1675.
The watch has an automatic Rolex movement with caliber 1570 and 26 jewels. It is a 18K yellow gold jubilee bracelet with a deployant clasp buckle with the Rolex logo. The watch comes with the original Tiffany box.
History
In 1905, Hans Wilsdorf founded in London “ Wilsdorf & Davis” a wholesaler company. The same year, he signed a contract to distribute the Aegler wristwatches brand in UK. In 1908, he creates his own brand called “Rolex” abbreviation of “Rolling Export”. In 1914, Wilsdorf won a class “A” rating certificate from the Kew observatory in England. In 1914, “Les Fils de jean Aegler become Rolex Watch Co. Aegler SA, Manufacture d’Horlogerie”. In 1920, Wilsdorf founded “Montres Rolex SA” in Geneva. In 1926, he patented a watchcase with a screw down crown. In 1927 the “Oyster” was born when Mercedes Gleitze crossed the Channel in 15 hours and 15 minutes. In 1931, came the “Perpetual”, then the “Datejust” in 1945. Since 2000, Rolex makes its own movements and produce over 700,000 watches a year many being iconic like the Daytona, Submariner or the Prince to name a few.
