Very nice Wakmann Triple Date chronograph in stainless steel dated around the 1960’s. The watch has a black reverse panda dial with minutes at 3 o’clock, hours at 12 o’clock and seconds at 9 o’clock. Each hour is mark with a baton. At 12 o’clock 2 windows for day and month and an outer ring for the date. It is a T Swiss T model. The hands are in steel with baton shape. Original crown with logo. It is a screwed stainless steel back case with engraved outside “Stainless Steel – Antimagnetic – Incabloc – Swiss Made – Pressure tested 5 ATM -71.1309.70 and inside – Charles Gigandet – Swiss”. The watch has a manual winding movement with caliber Valjoux 730 and 17 jewels. The watch comes with a black strap. 

History

Mr. Wakmann was born in Russia and started his watch business in Portugal in the early 1940’s. In 1943, he travelled across the Atlantic Ocean to establish his business in the United States. After a few years, Wakmann was appointed as the official producer for the US army. At the same time as doing watches, Wakmann developed professional timing instruments for the aviation industry. Wakmann watches quickly gained the reputation as precise high-end timepieces. In 1947, Wakmann Watch Company is listed in the US Stock Exchange. It also did a JV with Breitling Watch Co. In the 21st century, Wakmann continues to explore new horizons, providing modern, practical and durable wristwatches.

Manual winding chronograph movement with Valjoux caliber 730 with 17 jewels and 21,600 A/h. The power reserve is 46 hours. The valjoux 730 is a “triple date” hand winding chronograph in the Valjoux 72 family.
