History
Louis Erard started producing his first timepieces in 1931, two years after opening his very own watchmaking school. In 1956 they were allowed the privilege to create in-house movements, which, was reserved for only the top tier of excellence. After doing well in the market and being recognized as one of the most fairly priced Maisons in Switzerland. This became especially true during the quartz crisis, where less and less people were buying high end swiss watches, louis Erard was still doing quite well. During the first years of the quartz crisis in 1971, Louis Erard produced their famous Peseux 7001 Movement. After a few years they added features to this movement, like a power-reserve indicator and a regulator. In 1992, the company relocated to Le Noirmont(Jura, Switzerland)After the move, they stopped doing as well, Until a group of private investors purchased the Maison and relaunched the company. Since then, they have sold well over 200,00 watches in there relatively new location Le Noirmont.
