Jules Jurgensen dressy vintage watch with manual wind movement - Serviced
Lovely Jules Jurgensen with round creamy dial with batons for each hour. The watch has a second sub dial at 6 o’clock. The hands are in gold with “Dauphine” style. It is a 10K gold-filled case. Outside the back case is engraved “10K gold filled” and inside “Jules Jurgensen – New York – La Chaux de Fonds – 76745”. It is manual winding movement with caliber Revue 84 and 177 jewels. It is numbered 73197. The watch comes with a red lizard strap. Width between lugs is 18mm.
History
Jurgensen was founded by Jorgen Jorgensen in Denmark. He went to Switzerland to increase its knowledge and changed his name to Jurgen Jurgensen. Back to Copenhagen, he established his own watchmaking factory. The international exposure came with outstanding pocket watches, marine chronometers and precision pendulum clock. In 1830, his sons Louis and Jules took over the business and rename it “Urban Jurgensen Sonner”. In 1916, the company was sold to David August Golay, Production Director of Jurgensen, and then in 1919, it is the turn of Edouard Heuer & Co. to acquire it. Again, in 1936 the company changes to a new owner Aisenstein-Woronok & Sons Inc. of New York. Today, the company is owned by private Swiss individuals and the name if “Urban Jurgensen.
