Rare 1940’s Gallet Multichron Regulator Chronograph in SS - Cal Venus 140ed
Lovely rare 1940’s round Gallet in stainless steel with original light cream dial. The watch has 2 sub dials, one at 12 o’clock for the time and one at 6 o’clock for the minutes. All the numbers are Arabic numerals. The watch has a spectacular red nail telemeter and tachometer. It is a Swiss model. At 2 and 4 o’clock you have two pushers. The hands are original. There are some signs of wear on the crystal. The back case has engraved inside “Gallet Co. Swiss – Staybrite – Stainless Steel - #55139”. It is a Gallet Co movement with caliber Venus 140, 15 jewels. Also comes on the movement “Swiss” and “JXR”, the three letters for Gallet. The application for the watch was for military, artillery timing and auto racing. The watch comes with a brand-new Camille Fournet burgundy lizard strap. Fully serviced and perfect working condition.
History
The company started in 1826 by Julien Gallet in La Chaux de Fonds. The goal was to make pocket watch. In 1864, Gallet opened a subsidiary in the US. During the first world war, Gallet promotes its brand to army officers. In the 1930’s, Gallet makes models such as “Duo Dial”. Gallet makes also chronographs with Valjoux 69 or Venus 140 movements. Some watches come with mono pusher or two pushers. Today, Gallet is a leading word in the world of collectible.
