History
The company was founded in 1737 by Abraham Favre in Le Locle. His son Henry Auguste, merged in 1814 with the watch dealer, A. Leuba. The company was taken back in 1970 by one Henry’s Favre descendant. The name of the company flourished in the 1950’s with their own automatic caliber called “Le Bivouac”, then came a manually winding model with altimeter in 1963 and the 1966 “Bathy 50” with a mechanical depth-gauge. In addition, in the 1960, Favre Leuba made itself known for its twin barreled movements, with both manually and automatic movements with caliber FL 1162. Both models “Twinmatic” and “Duomatic” used this caliber. In 1985, the company was sold to the Baccardi-Martini group.
