Bulova Sky Star World Time – Ref 761 with Cal 11BKACB - Serviced
The Bulova Sky Star ref. 761 was produced within Bulova's Excellence Collection which had a short lifespan at the end of the 1960s. The Excellence Collection was marketed as Bulovas premier line of wristwatches featuring improved metal quality, case finishing, and upgraded movements. It is believed that the Bulova Sky Star ref. 761 World Time was only produced in the year 1969, with the majority featuring orange dials, making production numbers for these watches very low, especially in the white or black dial variants. Very collectible.
Bulova Sky Star World Time with reference 761 with black round dial and square and baton marking each hour. The date and day window are at 3 o’clock. It is a T Swiss T model. Luminous are perfect. The hands are in steel with baton style. The watch has a rotative bezel in Bakelite with worldwide city’s names around it. The crown comes with the Bulova name. It is a stainless-steel screwed back case with engraved inside “W Germany – 2928” and outside “Bulova M9 – Water Resistant – Stainless Steel Case – Shock Resistant – Anti Magnetic – G364042 – Self Winding”. The watch has an automatic movement with caliber 11BKACB with 17 jewels. The watch comes with a “Champion” stainless steel bracelet and double clasp.
History
The story of Joseph Bulova started in 1875 in the New York area in opening a small jewelry store in the Maiden Lane. Years after years, Bulova offers a full line of watches. In 1926, Bulova introduce a world premier “a practical clock radio”. 1930-1940 is a period of tremendous success for the brand with its rectangular gold-filled wristwatches with highly cambered cases. In the 1950’s, Bulova is the first with electronic watches, the “Accutron”. In 1967, Bulova bought Universal then in 1979 is acquired by Loews Corp. and in 2001bought Wittnauer.
