Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute ref 809 with round black dial and Arabic numerals for the 24 hours of the day. The watch comes with the two gold wings logo at 12 o’clock and Cosmonaute at 6 o’clock. The watch comes with different rings for aeronautic calculation. It has three white sub dials. The hands have a stick shape. It is a Swiss Made T model. The watch comes with the Breitling crown. The watch has a gold, bezel, crown and pushers. It is a gold plated case with a stainless-steel back case with engraved in the back “Breitling Stainless Steel back -809 - 1163503” and date the watch to 1967. It is a manual winding movement with caliber Venus 178 and 17 jewels. The watch comes with a black strap and original stainless-steel buckle. 

History

Leon Breitling started Breitling in 1884 with his own chronograph. In 1892, Leon built a watch manufacture called “G. Leon Breitling S.A., Montbrillant Watch Factory. In 1914, Gaston Breitling takes over the business and creates the “Vitesse” model. In 1932 Willy Breitling took over his father and creates the “Chronomat” in 1947 and then the “Navitimer” in 1952. In 1962, a Breitling chronograph was catapulted into the space at astronaut Scott Carpenter wrist. Then came the famous caliber 11 in 1969 called “Chronomatic” developed by Breitling and Heuer. The story of Breitling ended in 1979 before being revived by Ernest Schneider in 1982 and managed today by his son Theodore.
