Breitling Antares – Ref 81970 - SS and Gold – Automatic
Breitling Antares in stainless steel and gold with burgundy round dial and gold batons marking each hour, outer ring for seconds and second one graduated up to 100. The hands are in gold with “Baton” style. All the luminous are excellent. The date window comes at 3 o’clock. At 6 o’clock is engraved “Automatic”. It is a “Swiss Made” model. On the outer of the dial comes a unidirectional bezel with gold mark for 15, 30 and 45. The watch has a screwed crown. It is a screw back case with engraved “Breitling – 1371 – 81970 – Water Resistant 100M – 10ATM – Stainless Steel – Swiss Made”. The watch has an automatic movement with caliber ETA 2892-2 and 21 jewels. It is a brown Breitling strap and stainless steel buckle.
History
Leon Breitling started Breitling in 1884 with his own chronograph. In 1892, Leon built a watch manufacture called “G. Leon Breitling S.A., Montbrillant Watch Factory. In 1914, Gaston Breitling takes over the business and creates the “Vitesse” model. In 1932 Willy Breitling took over his father and creates the “Chronomat” in 1947 and then the “Navitimer” in 1952. In 1962, a Breitling chronograph was catapulted into the space at astronaut Scott Carpenter wrist. Then came the famous caliber 11 in 1969 called “Chronomatic” developed by Breitling and Heuer. The story of Breitling ended in 1979 before being revived by Ernest Schneider in 1982 and managed today by his son Theodore.
