Zenith Chronograph – 18K YG – Caliber 156 – 37.50mm - Serviced

Iconic Zenith chronograph with round cream/yellow dial with beautiful patina. The hours are marked with gold batons and Arabic numerals (6 and 12). Two sub dials, 3 o’clock for the minutes and 9 o’clock for the seconds. There is a blue tachymeter graduated up to 1000. The hands are in gold with Dauphine style. It is a 18K yellow gold back case with engraved outside “129347 – 16518” and inside “Zenith – 18K .750”. The watch has a Zenith manual winding movement with caliber 156 and 17 jewels. The watch comes with a brand-new brown crocodile strap. The watch is serviced. 

History

A man called Georges Favre Jacot set-up a company in 1865. He experienced a large successful offering pocket watches as accuracy as possible. In 1896, it won a gold medal at the Swiss National Exhibition. In 1960, Zenith takes over Martel Watch Co., which developed the calibers 285 and 749 for Universal. They became the 246 Zenith family. In 1969, Zenith introduces the first ever-automatic chronograph with central winding rotor, the mythical “El Primero”. Since 1999, the company is owned by LVMH. Their current leading products are “Chronomaster XXT”, the tourbillon chronograph, the “Traveler” and “Defy Xtreme”.

Technical details

Manual winding movement with caliber 156, 17 jewels and 18,000 A/h. Power reserve is about 44 hours. It is the base caliber of the 285. It was produced from 1950 to 1959.
