Beautiful Ulysse Nardin 1846 Marine Officially Certified Chronometer with reference 263.22. The dial has a round shape with a light gray color and blue Arabic numerals marking each hour. 2 sub dials with power reserve at 12 o’clock and seconds at 6 o’clock. On the dial is engraved Ulysse Nardin – Le Locle Suisse – 1846 – Officially Certified Chronometer”. The date is at 6 o’clock. It has a screwed crown. The hands have a modern shape of Breguet style and color. It is a stainless-steel screwed back case with all the prices engraved in the back as well as “Ulysse Nardin – 200 meters – Marine Chronometer – 263.22”. It is an automatic movement with caliber 26 and 28 jewels. The watch comes with a stainless-steel bracelet and double clasp. It fits a 6.50 inches wrist. It is a full set with box, warranty and COSC certificate.
History
The story of Ulysse Nardin started with Leonard Frederic but he did not put his name to his watches. It is his son Ulysse Nardin who did it in 1846. In 1862, Ulysse obtain in London a “Prize Medal”. In 1893, Ulysse Nardin represents the Swiss industry at the Chicago World’s Fair. The company presents marine chronometers and deck-watches that earned the company international reputation. 1906, the American Naval Observatory becomes Ulysse client. The company was awarded around 4300 observatory distinctions for these high precision timepieces alone. In 1912, come the wrist-chronographs. Around the 1940’s chronograph with full calendars are produced. In 1982, Rolf W. Schnyder with Deiter Meier and his brother Balthazar allow the company to make a comeback. In the footsteps of its “Freak” carousel watch and the “Sonata” alarm model, 2006 has seen the company move back into manufacturing with the UN-160 automatic caliber with its brand new “Dual Direct” escapement.
